This tutorial will guide you through the steps for submitting an article to Mom's Break Library. This is a fairly straightforward process.

OK---now you are ready to submit an article to Mom's Break Library!

All of the illustrations shown are in "thumbnail" format. To see the larger image, click on the thumbnail. A larger image will open in a new window. You can click on that larger image again to see a full-screen view.

 ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~  ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Step 1.
Log onto the Article Manager web page using the link that was provided. This is a typical "logon" screen.
Type in your username exactly as provided. Be sure to pay attention to "case and lower case" (this means that you need to type upper case [capital] letters and/or lower case ]little] letters exactly as provided).
Type in your password, again paying attention to "case and lower case" letters. You will note that your password appears as black dots. This is OK. Click the "login" button.
If you will be submitted more articles to Mom's Break at a later date, be sure to bookmark this page before you log on.
 ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~  ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Step 2.

This is the first page of the Article Manager.

  • Create Article: Click on this link to submit a new article.
  • Articles: Click here to look at articles you have already submitted.
  • User Preferences: Click here to change your password and other personal settings
  • Logoff Program: Click here to exit the site if you do not want to submit an article right now.

Click on Create Article, and continue this tutorial.

 ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~  ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Step 3.
Begin to submit your article.
This page may look confusing, but just follow this tutorial, and do each step in order. You'll have your first article submitted in no time!
 ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~  ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Step 4.

Enter the article title, select a category, and change the status:

Title: Copy the title of your article and paste it in, or simply type the article title in the field labeled "Title" in the top box of the page.

Category: Click on the down arrow and scroll through the categories. When you see the one you want, click on it.

Status: Click on the down arrow and click on "visible" (you should always select this status).

 ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~  ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Step 5.
Article Content: Uou will note that the title of your article has been automatically filled in, and re-formatted. You should leave it just as it is.
External Link: Please leave this blank.
Summary of article: Type in a 2-3 sentence "summary" (brief description) of what your article is about. DO NOT PASTE IN YOUR ENTIRE ARTICLE. This is only a summary of your article. As you can see in the screen shot (left), there are just a couple of sentences.
 ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~  ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Step 6.

Prepare to insert your article and author bio (signature).

There is one large white box labeled "Article and Author's Bio."

This is where you will paste in your article, and under the article, paste in your bio.

See next screen shot.

 ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~  ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Step 7.
Now you can see that the article has been inserted.
See next screen shot.
 ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~  ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Step 8.

Now you can see the author bio, after the end of the article

As you can see, the whole article AND the author bio must be pasted into this one box on the Mom's Break Article Manager.

The tutor continues below.

 ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~  ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
  New Page 1
 ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~  ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Step 9.

You have a few options for how you want the article to look.

You can change the font and font size, along with options like Bold, Italic, Underline, etc. The Article Manager has a toolbar that is similar to the toolbar in most word-processing programs. By clicking on the toolbar drop-down menus or other icons, you can change the way the article "looks" using the same procedure you would use in, say, Microsoft Word.

If you would like some help with changing font, font size, and other word-processing option, see my tutorial Working with Word---It's Easier than You Think! (this tutorial opens in a new window so that you can bookmark it, and go back to it later).

 ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~  ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Step 10.
You can insert an image (picture) in your article.
Click on "Add or Upload File(s)" that is to the right of the "Upload Images" heading.
NOTE: The image must be 200K or smaller, so be sure to re-size the images prior to uploading them to this site.
 ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~  ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Step 11.

A new window opens. You can upload 10 images.

To begin to upload images, click on "Browse" to the right of the Image 001 field.

 ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~  ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Step 12.
Another new window opens, this time allowing you to find the image that you wish to upload that you have saved on your computer.
Find the image that you wish to upload and include in your article.
Click on that image and hit the Open button at the lower right of the window.
 ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~  ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Step. 13

Now the link to that image has been selected and you can upload this image to the library.

Repeat Step 12 up to nine more times.

When you have selected all the images you wish to include in your article, click on the "Upload" button that is at the top right of the Upload Files window.

Uploading your image(s) may take several seconds. Be patient.

 ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~  ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Step 14.
Now your image has been uploaded and is ready to insert into the article.
At this point, you can add a caption, make it a thumbnail, or link it to another, larger image.
When you are finished with the image, click on the Save button.
 ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~  ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Step 15.

You will now see a thumbnail picture for each image that you upload. Next to each you will see a "Placeholder" code that looks like:

***image1***

You will insert the "placeholder" code into the body of your article, wherever you want that image to appear. See Step 16.

 ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~  ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Step 16.
As you can see in the screen shot at right, the "placeholder" code has been inserted into the article text box.
 ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~  ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Step 17.

Once you have completed all of the steps, the image will appear in the body of your article (the screen shot to the right shows the article in the "Preview" viewing mode, see Step 19).

Please go to Step 18 and continue the process of submitting your article. You can review your article and check that image placement during the "Preview" step (see Step 19).

 ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~  ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Step 18.
Complete the article submission details. At the bottom of the Article Manager page, you will need to fill in a few details (refer to screen shot at left).
  • Check off the box that says "Show this article first in lists" (it will be first when you submit it, and then it will move down the list as new articles are submitted).
  • Fill in your name as the author
  • Type in a few relevant keywords that pertain to your article
  • Type in a very brief, one-sentence description of your article.
  • Ignore the yellow fields
  • Check off the box at the bottom if you want to receive an email when Mom's Break posts the article.
At the bottom right, note the three buttons Preview, Save, Cancel.
 ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~  ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Step 19.

You can "preview" the article to make sure it looks OK by hitting the Preview button (shown in Step 10).

This opens a new window and you can use the scroll bar to scroll down the page to preview your entire article.

When you are done previewing your article, close that new page to go back to the Article Manager page. At this time, you can change anything you want to change in your article (text font, font size, line spacing, etc.).

When you are satisfied with your article, click on the Save button (shown in Step 10).

 ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~  ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Step 20.
When you hit Save, to save your article and submit it to Mom's Break Library, the article will go through a "publishing process" (see the box outlined in RED in the screen shot at left).
DO NOT CLOSE YOUR BROWSER WINDOW while this process is taking place.
 ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~  ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Step 21.

When the publishing process is finished, your article will submitted to Mom's Break Library.

If you have already submitted articles to Mom's Break, then you will see that list of articles. If this is your first article, you will see only that article in the list.

If you have another article that you want to submit at this time, you can click on the "Create" button that is in the top right corner, above the list of articles. This takes you back to the screen shown in Step 3.

If you do not wish to submit another article at this time, then click on the "Logoff" link at the very top right-hand corner or simply close your browser to exit Mom's Break Article Manager.
