Credit-card-sized gift cards are everywhere, and there's just about no store or restaurant that doesn't offer them. These types of gift cards can be the perfect gift for anyone, for any occasion.

If you are giving a gift card to your special Valentine this year, then present the card using these gift card certificates! These certificates print on regular computer paper and fit into readily available envelopes. All you need to do is add a little "donut" of tape to the back of the gift card and you've got a colorful certificate to give to your Valentine!

These certificates are PDF files and are available as a free printable collection. The collection is in a zip folder, which is very easy to download to your computer.

Shown here is a quarter-fold card (left), a "wide" certificate (top), and a "tall" certificate (bottom). (Also included in the collection is a "long" certificate, which is shown below.)

These certificates use standard Microsoft clipart, so feel inspired to create your own certificates! For help, review my handy tutorial:

How to Use Microsoft® Paint to Personalize JPG Files

To prepare the gift card for any one of these certificates, merely make a "donut" of cello-tape and attach to the back of the card.
For the quarter-fold card, attach the gift card to the inside right of the card.

Be sure to add your personal note!

Quarter-fold cards fit into "Invitation" envelopes (size 4-1/4 x 5-1/2"). These envelopes are available at office supply stores like Office Depot.

Choose the wide certificate to make a tri-fold certificate that fits in a standard #10 (business) envelope.

Attach the gift card to the inside of the heart, as shown here.

Fold the wide certificate by folding the short sides in toward the middle, to create a "tri-fold" certificate.
The certificate fits into a standard #10 (business) envelope. Use a plain white one, or use a colored envelope, which are available in office supply stores like Office Depot.
Print the tall certificate and attach the gift card in the middle of the candy box.
Fold the bottom and the top toward the middle to create a tri-fold certificate. This certificate also fits in a #10 enevelope.
When you print the wide and the tall certificate, be sure to select "Fit to Page" in the "Paper Source" box, which appears in the Print pop-up window when you print from Adobe Reader.
Decorate the outside of the envelope with heart stickers, or other Valentine-related stickers.

You can also create fun labels (either address or shipping size) to adhere to the outside of the envelope. For a tutorial about creating personalized labels, go to:

How to Make Personalized Cards and Invitations Without Card-Making Software

Make a classy gift card certificate using the "long" certificate.

Print the certificate and then trim around the border so that it fits into the #10 envelope. Attach the gift card as shown.

I used 24lb, resume-quality ivory-colored paper, and used the matching envelope.

You can also print on card stock, which is even heavier paper, trim, and use a complimentary envelope.

When you print the long certificate, check the box that says Choose Paper Source By PDF Page Size. The dimensions will change to 4.13 x 9.5. This will insure that when you trim the certificate it will fit in a #10 envelope.
