Tired of wandering through the malls, looking at
pre-packaged gift sets, trying to find something to give your
favorite Aunt Jessica? Would you like to give the neighbor lady
something that says "Thank you" for all the times she's gotten your mail
for you while you are on vacation? And what about the co-worker who is
always bringing in something homemade? Or, are you like me? You like to give gifts, but you have a tight budget, and giving something "practical---but "fun"---is more your style? Well, then here's a great idea! Give Aunt Jessie, nice neighbor lady, or the co-worker who likes to bake and share an oatmeal barrel full of the ingredients to make homemade oatmeal cookies! Here, as you can see, I've assembled:

Put the smaller barrel of oatmeal, wrapped in a piece of tissue paper, inside the larger oatmeal barrel (be sure to take a dry paper towel and wipe out the inside of the empty oatmeal barrel). Put the lid on the oatmeal barrel. |

In a large kraft paper gift bag, put in the filled
oatmeal barrel, then loosely wrap the brown sugar and bag of walnuts in
tissue paper, and place in the bag. You can also add raisins and other baking ingredients (like baking soda, a spice jar of cinnamon, etc.), as desired. This is especially nice if you are giving a gift to someone who likes to bake, but who might not always have the extra money to make the "really special" kinds of cookies. |

Now, loop some curl ribbon around the wooden spoon and
tie it to the gift bag handle. Then add a gift tag. For tips on making your own gift tags (or to get the free printable gift tag that you see here), please go to: Make Your Own Christmas Gift Tags If you are lucky, your gift will come back to you... ...in the form of a dozen homemade oatmeal-walnut cookies! |

Here's another nice idea for a gift that is suitable for
anyone (family, friend, or co-worker): a Christmas mug and a packet of
hot cocoa! For all the wrapping ideas for this gift, go to: |

decorate yourself! For all the illustrated instructions to make this gift bag and matching gift tag, go to: Make Christmas Gift Bags with Matching Gift Tags
